The Galaganatha Temple at Pattadakal is an 8th century CE Shaiva temple built by the Chalukya dynasty on the banks of the Malaprabha River in Bagalkot district, Karnataka. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is constructed in the Nagara (North Indian rekhanagara prasada) style and is part of the Pattadakal Group of Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage Site designated in 1987. Pattadakal served as the royal coronation site of the Chalukya kings and is celebrated for its harmonious blend of Dravidian and Nagara architectural styles. The temple complex, including Galaganatha, stands as a testament to the artistic and architectural excellence of the Chalukya and Rashtrakuta dynasties between the 7th and 9th centuries CE.
