Permanent Pictorial Cancellation (PPC) issued by Reis Magos Sub Office, PIN 403114, North Goa. The cancellation design depicts the Reis Magos Fort, a Portuguese-era laterite stone fort situated on the banks of the Mandovi River at Reis Magos village. Introduced on 01 October 2002. Status: Active.
The Reis Magos Fort is one of the oldest forts in Goa, originally built in 1551 by the Portuguese Viceroy Dom Afonso de Noronha on the site of a Adil Shah-era earthwork. It served as a key military stronghold guarding the entrance to the Mandovi River estuary and the capital Old Goa. The fort later served as a royal residence for Portuguese Viceroys and eventually as a prison during the 20th century. Restored in the early 2000s, it now functions as a cultural centre and heritage museum. The village of Reis Magos is also home to the historic Reis Magos Church, one of the oldest churches in Goa, adding to the area's rich colonial heritage.
