Jagdalpur is the headquarters of Bastar district, one of the regions with the highest concentration of tribal communities in India. India Post's Permanent Pictorial Cancellation from Jagdalpur HO, issued in 2025, commemorates the cultural heritage of the Maria Tribe, as part of India Post's ongoing recognition of India's tribal and indigenous communities through philatelic artifacts.
