This is a Special Cancellation issued by Mumbai Head Office, Mumbai, Maharashtra, PIN 400001, on 15 July 2025, marking the return of Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla from the International Space Station (ISS) following the Axiom Mission 4 (AX-4). The rectangular cancellation design depicts a SpaceX Dragon capsule descending under parachutes, with bilingual text in Hindi and English reading 'Welcome Shubhanshu Shukla - Return from ISS'. The cancellation was applied on a '75 Years of Samvidhan' postcard.
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force became the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station as part of the Axiom Mission 4 (AX-4) in 2025, which also made him the second Indian to travel to space after Rakesh Sharma in 1984. The mission launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and docked with the ISS, where Shukla conducted scientific experiments including research on muscle loss in microgravity, a field with relevance to ISRO's long-term human spaceflight ambitions. His return on 15 July 2025 was celebrated as a major national achievement, with India Post marking the occasion through this special cancellation issued from Mumbai, India's financial and cultural hub. The mission was a collaborative effort between ISRO and Axiom Space, and represented a key milestone in India's journey towards its own crewed space missions, including the Gaganyaan programme.
