This is a Permanent Pictorial Cancellation (PPC) issued by Tongpal Sub Post Office, Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh, PIN 494115, inaugurated on 12 February 2025. The Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa, subspecies peninsularis) is the state bird of Chhattisgarh, declared in 2002. Also known as the Bastar Hill Myna, this species is found primarily in the Kanger Valley National Park in Bastar district and is listed under Schedule I(b) of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, making it one of India's most protected birds. The species is notable for its exceptional ability to mimic human speech and is endemic to the dense forests of the Bastar region. Tongpal is a sub-post office in Dantewada district, located in the ecologically sensitive Bastar division of Chhattisgarh. India Post issued this PPC to celebrate the state's rich biodiversity and its commitment to conservation of the Hill Myna.
