The circular cancellation design depicts marine fossil remains (ammonite), representing the paleontological significance of the Manendragarh area. Applied on an 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' postcard bearing an Atal Bihari Vajpayee stamp. The cancellation is currently active.
Manendragarh, located in the newly formed Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district of Chhattisgarh, is notable for its geological significance — the region contains marine fossil deposits, particularly ammonites and other cephalopods, indicating that this area was submerged under an ancient sea (Tethys Ocean) millions of years ago. These fossils provide valuable paleontological evidence of the sub-continental geological history of central India. India Post recognised this scientific heritage by issuing a Permanent Pictorial Cancellation from Manendragarh SO in February 2025, celebrating the fossil-rich geological landscape of the region.
