The pictorial cancellation features an intricate line-art illustration depicting the elaborate traditional headgear (Thullal Kireetam) worn by an Ottamthullal performer. The central design is accompanied by the postmark inscription "Lakkidi PO - 679301" alongside the cancellation date.
Issued by India Post to honor Kerala’s literary and performing arts heritage, this permanent pictorial cancellation marks Lakkidi (in Palakkad district, Kerala), the birthplace of Kunchan Nambiar (1705–1770). Nambiar was a legendary 18th-century Malayalam poet and humorist who originated Ottamthullal, a solo classical dance-poetic performance art. The cancellation permanently honors his cultural legacy on mail originating from Lakkidi Sub Post Office.
