The cancellation design depicts the facade of the Church of Our Lady of Health at Sancoale, a Portuguese colonial-era church known for its distinctive architecture. Introduced on 01 May 2005. Status: Active.
The Church of Our Lady of Health at Sancoale is one of Goa's historic churches dating from the Portuguese colonial period. Sancoale (also spelled Sancoale or Zuari) is a village near the Zuari River in South Goa. The church reflects the Catholic missionary heritage of Goa, where Portuguese colonisers established numerous churches across the territory between the 16th and 18th centuries. Our Lady of Health is a Marian devotion particularly significant in the coastal communities of Goa and southern India, where fishing communities prayed for protection during sea voyages. The PPC celebrates the ecclesiastical architecture and religious heritage of Goa's coastal villages.
